[Nix-dev] C compiler cannot create executables

Hi,

I'm not sure whether this is a Nix or a Stratego/XT problem:

When building the Stratego/XT tree from svn (and other packages
as well), I get:

checking for C compiler default output file name... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables

I'm using gcc from nix install:

> which gcc
/home/visser/.nix-profile/bin/gcc

> gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 3.4.3

/config-install-scripts/StrategoXT> ../strategoxt-config.sh
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes
checking for the SVN revision of the source tree... 8524
checking for gcc... gcc
checking for C compiler default output file name... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details.

Any ideas what might cause this?

It appears that everytime I attempt to do some work on Stratego
packages it takes longer to get a working setup.
