well, at least the expression could be printed to stderr or 
something.  Or if it can't be represented in actual physical 
nix-expression-language, maybe it should be able to be (in 
the interests of transparency, making people see how 
nix-env's powers aren't completely a magical different 
world)?  Store paths seem reasonably well-defined to me, 
even if they don't provide complete hint information on how 
to *reproduce* them, because they do include a hash...

hmm.
