Thanks for encouragement.

Meanwhile there are *ahem* a few issues, starting with FHS paths
wired deeply into "installers" like RPM.

There's a few approaches (such as turning everything but /nix/store
into a huge symlink swamp, quite doable in RPM's file install state machine), but
I'm open to better suggestions.
