[Nix-dev] Nix store as a provenance aware storage system

Stumbled across this concept today:

If I read this correctly, the nix store is conceptually equivalent to a
provenance-aware storage system in the context of a "build" workflow,
implemented on top of a normal, non-provenance-aware filesystem. Clearly,
the provenance is encoded in the crypto-hash in the store...and since
enough information is stored to work backwards to define a "closure", the
provenance is accessible, as well.
