I was seeing the same issue. It appeared to start sometime between 1:18AM and
1:40AM CDT for me and a remote co-worker (me on OS X, him on Ubuntu).

Per _ikke_ and cespare|home on #git, it was a github issue that was fixed prior
to 2:19AM CDT. They gave no further information.
