the packages pkgs/os-specific/linux/lxc/default.nix and
pkgs/tools/security/tor/torsocks.nix both use the autoreconfHook, which
might be what you're looking for,

  $ grep -lRF .desktop pkgs/
  pkgs/os-specific/linux/wpa_supplicant/gui.nix
