[Nix-dev] PDF issues

Hi,

I've got strange issues with some PDF files. I've been seeing this for
quite a while with quite a few different PDFs.

Basically, the problem is that Okular shows empty pages. I've recently
switched to Zathura, and turns out something's wrong there too.

Here are some pictures:

(As you can see in Zathura the font is somewhat crispy and almost
impossible to read).

The file is: http://ttic.uchicago.edu/~dreyer/course/papers/wadler.pdf.
This same file when viewed in mupdf-x11 or in Firefox with pdf.js is OK.

I'm not sure that Zathura and Okular issues are directly related. It might
be that Zathura simply does something wrong with fonts. I also have another
pdf that results in mostly empty pages in Okular but looks almost fine in
Zathura (font is just a little bit crispier than in mupdf).

And surely I don't have any of those problems with Okular on my Gentoo
laptop (same version of Okular, same version of poppler).

Do you have any ideas?
