Hi Eelco,

> What does "nix-build -A nix" produce?

that seems to work fine, no Darwin GCC here:

  $ nix-build --dry-run /usr/local/src/nixpkgs-current -A nix
  the following paths will be downloaded/copied (0.00 MiB):
    /nix/store/0b7b6qmjvb1m0ldg7p7bl6frvnjrw1lz-libssh2-1.2.6
    /nix/store/5zlgmahs2gys4p65m0vvpv9ycxh7v01c-curl-7.21.0
    /nix/store/h5m7bx9772087cna53iijzw04f26ddd0-openssl-1.0.0b
    /nix/store/w7s38mpy20rs38410l8z8h3p3y8bkgzy-nix-0.16

I actually tried the "nix-env -u \*" update, by the way, and it does
install MacOS binaries! Could it be that there's something wrong with my
channel manifest? I'm subscribed to:

  http://hydra.nixos.org/jobset/nixpkgs/trunk/channel/latest

Take care,
Peter
